How to Make DC Converter From DC 5V to DC 3V With IC AMS1117

With 5v power supply is really popular and available such as: power bank, USB port, phone charger...

And sometimes we need to lower the voltage from 5V to 3v to use it for something (remote control car, Arduino circuit running 3v...).

So how to downgrade the power from DC 5v to DC 3v?

Today, I will share with everyone one way, which is to use AMS1117 IC (3.3v) to do it.

There are many ways to lower DC 5v to DC 3v such as using resistors, capacitors, diodes...

But today I will share how to use IC AMS 1117.

The The AMS1117 series of adjustable and fixed voltage regulators are designed to provide up to1A output current and to operate down to 1V input-to-output differential. The dropout voltage of the device is guaranteed maximum 1.3V, decreasing at lower load currents. On-chip trimming adjusts the reference voltage to 1.5%. Current limit is set to minimize the stress under overload conditions on both the regulator and power source circuitry. The AMS1117 devices are pin compatible with other three-terminal SCSI regulators and are offered in the low profile surface mount SOT-223 package, in the 8L SOIC package and in the TO-252 (DPAK) plastic package.

Connect the components according to the circuit diagram above

Step 3: Testing

Connect Input and Output wires.

Then check the output voltage with a multimeter. If you see the LED lighting and the voltage value is about 3.3v, You are successful!

Thanks!
